  • Bud Brigham, Chairman

    Bud Brigham has over 30 years of entrepreneurial and operating experience in the oil and gas industry. He founded the original Brigham Exploration in 1990 and served as its President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board. Bud managed Brigham Exploration’s rapid growth as a private company from an initial investment of $25,000 in 1990 to its initial public offering in 1997 then its accumulation of 375,000 acres in the Williston Basin and finally its sale to Statoil ASA in December 2011 for $4.5 billion.

    Subsequently, Bud founded Brigham Resources, which built an 80,000 net acre position in the Southern Delaware Basin, completing approximately 50 wells, prior to sale in February 2017 to Diamondback Energy for $2.55 billion. He also founded and was Executive Chairman of Brigham Minerals which had amassed over 40,000 net mineral acres across the Permian, SCOOP/STACK, DJ and Williston Basins. In 2017 he founded Atlas Energy Solutions & Brigham Exploration, a leading Permian sand producer & non-op company, respectively.

    Bud received his B.S. in Geophysics from The University of Texas and is a member of the National Petroleum Council, the Bureau of Economic Geology Visiting Committee, an inductee in the All-American Wildcatters, and serves on the University of Texas Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee.

  • Lance Langford, CEO

    Mr. Langford was raised in Midland, Texas, and has over 33 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Langford began his career serving in various engineering capacities with Burlington Resources, including reservoir, production and drilling responsibilities. He joined Brigham Exploration Company in 1995 as Manager of Operations, and ultimately Executive Vice President – Operations. When Statoil ASA acquired Brigham in 2011, Mr. Langford assumed the duties of Senior Vice President – Bakken Business Unit. In 2015, Mr. Langford co-founded Luxe Energy. Luxe built a 19,000 net acre position in the Delaware basin, and after an approximate six month investment period, sold to Diamondback Energy in 2016 for $560 million. Subsequently, Mr. Langford co-founded Luxe Energy II and Luxe Minerals. Luxe Energy II amassed a 35,000 net acre position in the Central Delaware Basin, and drilled 35 operated wells. Luxe Minerals focused on the Permian and built a 15,000 net royalty acre position across the Midland and Delaware Basins.

    Mr. Langford is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. Mr. Langford currently serves as a board member for Atlas Energy Solutions Inc.

  • Russell Rankin, COO

    Mr. Rankin has been an operational engineer since 1996, supervising drilling, completion, production, and midstream operations. He has the distinction of drilling the first horizontal well for Brigham Exploration Company. He began his career with Mewbourne Oil Company before joining Brigham in 2001. Mr. Rankin served in various capacities with Brigham and Statoil ASA, including Regional Manager of the Williston office for the Bakken Business Unit, and Subsurface Manager for the Eagle Ford Business Unit. Mr. Rankin last served as VP of Operations for Luxe Energy and VP of Business Development for Luxe Minerals.

    Mr. Rankin holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

  • Michael Thibodeau, VP Engineering

    Mr. Thibodeau began his career with Brigham Exploration as a Reservoir Engineer. After the merger with Statoil, he was promoted to Bakken Reservoir Team Lead, and then Subsurface Manager of the Marcellus Business Unit. Prior to Luxe Energy, he held the position of Reservoir Engineering Manager for Brigham Minerals. Most recently, Mr. Thibodeau served as the VP of Engineering for both Luxe Energy and Luxe Minerals.

    Mr. Thibodeau is a graduate of the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. Mr. Thibodeau is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.

  • Trevor Leeson, CFO

    Mr. Leeson began his career as an investment banking analyst at Rock House Capital Advisors, a boutique energy advisory firm based in Houston, followed by a position within Wells Fargo’s energy corporate banking practice. In 2017, he joined RBC Richardson Barr, the A&D platform of RBC Capital Markets, most recently serving in the role of Vice President. While at RBC, Trevor served clients across the U.S. by providing market intelligence, delivering strategic advice, and executing a wide range of asset, corporate, and capital markets transactions. He ultimately played a significant role in closing deals valued at over $20 billion across every major oil & natural gas play in the Lower 48. Trevor’s extensive transactional experience allows him to contribute heavily to all phases of acquisition underwriting, transaction execution, and portfolio management.

    Mr. Leeson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a Minor in Accounting from The University of Texas.

  • Austin Clayton, Geoscience Manager

    Mr. Clayton is the Geoscience Manager at Langford Energy Partners, where he leads subsurface evaluations, geologic modeling, and development planning. He has nearly a decade of experience in the oil and gas industry, specializing in reservoir characterization, geosteering, and asset development. Previously, Austin was a Geologist at Luxe Energy and Luxe Minerals, where he helped acquire 35,000 net acres in the Delaware Basin and played a key role in the development of 35 wells. Before Luxe, he worked with Hilcorp and Lewis Energy focusing on the Eagle Ford shale and conventional Gulf Coast assets.

    Mr. Clayton holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Geological Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin.

  • Zak Z. Coppinger, CPL, Land Manager

    Mr. Coppinger began his career as a contract landman, working across the State of Texas. In 2013, he joined Venado Oil & Gas, where he and the land team acquired, developed, operated, and divested more than 2,500 leases covering over 120,000 acres. Following 2016, Mr. Coppinger held key leadership roles, including Vice President of Land and Board Member, at PetroLegacy Energy, PearlSnap Midstream, and Peacemaker Royalties. In these roles, he was instrumental in asset development, land management, acquisitions, trades and divestitures, surface operations, and mineral and royalty acquisition and development. His expertise in oil and gas transactions and asset management contributed to the successful divestiture of these companies for over $1.4 billion in 2023. Mr. Coppinger joined Langford Energy Partners in 2024 and continues to apply his extensive industry experience to drive strategic growth and value.

    Mr. Coppinger holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Energy Commerce from Texas Tech University.
